The country’s biggest block of flats will help meet the soaring demand for new homes, says Runavík mayor

Demand for homes in the central region has hit the roof since the opening of the Eysturoy-Tórshavn subsea tunnel.
Addressing this demand, Runavík municipality is now planning to construct a block of 150 flats in the Eysturoy town of Saltangará.
The plan is to build flats ranging from 60 to 167 square metres in a two-storey apartment building located in the town’s ‘í Leitinum’ district.
“The country’s largest apartment building will offer a wide variety of flats that will meet the huge demand for new homes in the Runavík area,” says mayor Tórbjørn Jacobsen.
He estimates that the first flats will be ready by the end of 2024.
