November 1, All Saints’ Day, marks the annual commemoration day for persons lost at sea.

Memorial services will be held across the country today.

At Tórshavn’s Vinnuháskúlin, the Centre of Maritime Studies and Engineering, starting at 2pm, Prime Minister Bárður á Steig Nielsen will be delivering a speech and vicar Sverri Steinhólm will say prayers.

This event will be followed by a memorial service in the city centre plantation where the Prime Minister will lay a wreath by the memorial statue of a seaman looking out to sea.

Tórshavn’s cathedral will host a memorial service from 8pm. This service will be broadcast live on the KvF radio station.
