On Friday, Gásadalur residents noticed that rocks had fallen from right below the path that leads down to the landing place.

This has rendered the road unsafe for visitors who are unfamiliar with the terrain.

“This is a place where just about all Gásadal tourists go to take their selfies. At peak times, we see up to 70 people there. It would be highly inadvisable for big groups to visit the place now,” says a resident.

”Think twice before you go and take photos of the waterfall,” a caption on the ’Tøðan í Gásadali’ Facebook page reads.

“Many years ago, tractors could drive along this path. But the path has weakened significantly in recent years, so the road authorities really ought to take a close look at it.”
