New government has been formed
Javnaðarflokkurin (social democrats), Tjóðveldi (republicans) and Framsókn (liberals) have formed a new governing coalition.
The parties have agreed on all details in the new coalition agreement and on the allocation of ministerial portfolios.
Although details have not been announced yet, it appears that the new government will consists of nine ministries.

Javnaðarflokkurin is believed to have secured the Prime Minister’s post and three other ministerial posts.
Tjóðveldi is expected to get the Chairman of the Løgting (speaker of the house) and three ministers, and the remaining two ministerial posts will go to Framsókn, including the post of finance minister.
Details to follow
The coalition agreement and the allocation of ministerial portfolios will be announced at a press conference tomorrow morning.
This will be followed by a parliamentary meeting at 10am in which the speaker of the house will be elected and the Prime Minister will be appointed.
Ministers will be announced at a reception in the Tinganes government buildings tomorrow afternoon.
