A 19-year-old man was today handed a one-year driving ban, 40 days of community service and a DKK 11,000 fine.

He was sentenced for deliberately running over a group of geese, killing one of them, on the pavement on Tórshavn’s Sundsvegur road on 14 April last year.

Another 19-year-old man who recorded video footage of the incident with the gees was slapped with a DKK 5,000 fine.

“The video footage shows some geese walking along a pavement in Tórshavn,” police inspector Heri Andreasen explained shortly after the incident occurred last year.

“The camera then shifts to a car driving toward the geese. It drives up onto the pavement and runs over the geese, killing one of them. It is clear that this was done on purpose.”
