There were 1,000 non-Danish citizens in the Faroes in 2013. This figure has now tripled.

And the number of non-Danish workers in the Faroes has increased accordingly, going from 600 in 2013 to 2,100 in 2023.

“This past year has been a bit unusual in that the number of Danish citizens has remained unchanged while the number of non-Danish citizens has increased. In other words, last year’s population growth can be attributed to non-Danish citizens,” he explained.

“The biggest increase among non-Danish citizens in the past year is represented by people from eastern Europe and Asia.”
