Three-quarters of refugees live in Tórshavn

One hundred Ukrainian refugees live in Tórshavn, 11 in Klaksvík, 10 in Suðuroy, four in Eysturoy and one in Sørvágur.
These figures, from just under a month ago, come from integration minister Bjarni Kárason Petersen in a reply to a parliamentary enquiry about refugees.
Ukrainian refugees have so far been staying for five days at the refugee centre before moving into new accommodation.
However, with the current housing shortage, five days is not enough time to find a permanent place to stay for everyone.

To solve this, the Immigration Office has rented a house which acts as a temporary home for refugees who are waiting to find more permanent accommodation. The minister says it may become necessary to rent one more house for this purpose.
All refugee families with young children have been offered a visit from health visitor service Gigni. According to the Immigration Office, most of the families have accepted this offer.
