Last year saw a significant rise in traffic figures in the country’s two subsea tunnels, compared to the previous year

In 2018, 896,864 vehicles drove through the Streymoy-Vágar undersea tunnel, which is a 6.8-percent increase on the previous year.
A daily average of 2,457 vehicles passed through the tunnel in 2018.
The Eysturoy-Klaksvík tunnel saw a 7-percent increase in traffic, with 1,217,826 passing through it last year. This puts the daily average at 3,337.
