Faroes to face Denmark in Euro 2020 qualifiers
The Faroese national handball team will play in group 8 alongside Denmark, Ukraine and Montenegro at the EHF Euro 2020 qualifiers.
According to the Handball Federation of the Faroe Islands, no Faroese sports halls meet the requirements for international sports events. It is therefore likely that the Faroese home games will have to be played abroad.
For the first time, the European Championships will be hosted by three nations: Sweden, Austria and Norway, all of which qualify automatically for the championships.
A total of 32 nations were divided into eight groups of four.
The dates are as follows:
Round 1 and 2: 24-28 October 2018
Round 3 and 4: 10-14 April 2019
Round 5 and 6: 12-16 June 2019
The groups are:
Group | Nations |
1 | Israel, Poland, Germany, Kosovo |
2 | Switzerland, Serbia, Croatia, Belgium |
3 | Turkey, Iceland, Macedonia, Greece |
4 | Latvia, Netherlands, Slovenia, Estonia |
5 | Bosnia-Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Belarus, Finland |
6 | Lithuania, Portugal, France, Romania |
7 | Slovakia, Russia, Hungary, Italy |

After these six rounds, 20 teams will have qualified for the championships, held in Sweden, Austria and Norway 10-26 January 2020.
