FM gold and tons of cash

Havnar Bóltfelag, HB, has every reason to celebrate. On Sunday, the Tórshavn-based club won the Premier League, which also means big prize money payouts.
Winning the Faroese Premier League (FM) nets the club EUR 260,000, and another EUR 280,000 comes from making it to the qualifying round of the Champions League.
That totals just over DKK 4 million. But there’s more: if HB makes it past the first Champions League qualifying round, the club will cash in another DKK 3 million. In case of a first-round defeat, the team will be eligible to play in the Euro League qualifiers, which will earn the club DKK 2 million.
In other words, Sunday’s victory against Klaksvík-based KÍ earned HB a total of DKK 6-7 million.
HB president Kaj Leo Holm Johannesen says the prize money will help cover international travel expenses and may also be invested in strengthening the club’s youth academy.
