The new trial system is fully financed for the entire two-year period, says Prime Minister Aksel V. Johannesen. This comes after repeated requests from the Residential Care Service for more funding.
A “decent” start
Dennis Holm, mayor of Vágur and chairman of the board at the Residential Care Service, says this is a decent solution for now.

He believes that with the funding now in place, the Residential Care Service is better equipped to administer this task than the national authorities.
Not everyone agrees, however. Sonni á Horni, mayor of Fuglafjørður, is calling for a re-evaluation of this trial system, arguing that the differences in elderly care repayments to the municipalities are too high to make it a fair system.
