Seven COVID-19 research projects given funding

Scientists in the Faroe Islands were last week invited to apply for grants of about DKK 2.5 million for research into COVID-19, an amount which has now exceeded DKK 3 million.
Researchers have reacted quickly, and seven projects have already kicked off, supported by about DKK 1.5 million in total.
The largest of these, receiving a grant of almost DKK 500,000, investigates infection figures, symptoms and antibodies in Faroese patients.
Another study, receiving an almost identical amount, aims to determine whether the genetic makeup of Faroese COVID-19 patients affects the course of the disease.

The role of experts and authorities in a crisis situation is being analysed in one study, while another investigates what effect a supportive school management has on schoolteachers.
One study looks into how the corona situation affects school pupils, another at how it affects religious communities and yet another at how it affects individuals aged 80 or over.
Applications for funding are still open. Applications will be processed as they are submitted, and decisions will be made within days. For further details, visit gransking.fo or call 567800.
