Boost in retail sales

Retail sales in all three major commodity groups saw a year-on-year increase in the second quarter (Q2) of this year.

Statistics Faroe Islands divides retail sales into three commodity groups: ‘groceries and non-alcoholic drinks’, ‘furnishings and household equipment’ and ‘clothing and footwear’.

The first two groups saw an increase in sales of 14 percent in Q2 2020 compared to Q2 2019, while sales in the third group increased by 7 percent over the same period.
