Plans are in place to merge the three workers’ unions in Vágar.

The committees of all three unions agree to merge, says Amy Jacobsen, chairwoman of the Sørvágur workers’ union, which will hold its annual general meeting tomorrow.

Union members will be consulted on the new plan at the meeting.

“Merging our three unions would give us a stronger and more united voice in negotiations with the national authorities,” she says.

The other two workers’ unions on the island are the Miðvágur and the Sandavágur workers’ unions.
