Nightlife opening hours back to normal

People across the country are again allowed to sit in bars, restaurants and nightclubs until the early hours of the morning.
The government directive ordering bars and restaurants to close at 10pm expired at midnight yesterday.
According to trade minister Helgi Abrahamsen, the directive will not be extended, but he adds that the government is keeping a close eye on Covid developments and may consider new restrictions on nightlife opening hours if deemed necessary.
The epidemic commission will meet tomorrow afternoon to discuss the guidelines for the coming weeks.
Prime Minister Bárður á Steig Nielsen says that the Covid measures announced before Christmas, with the exception of the nightlife closing times, will remain in place until further notice.
