Two new Covid cases

Two new Covid cases were registered yesterday.
One of the persons is linked to a known chain of infection, while the other person’s source of infection has yet to be identified.
The daily numbers of positive tests over the past week have been as follows: 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1 and 2.
No-one is receiving hospital treatment for Covid-19, and 25 people are listed as being in quarantine.
There are currently four active Covid cases in the country.

Tórshavn-based Hans Blaasvær, who tested positive for the rapid-spreading UK variant of Covid-19 on Thursday, posted the following on his Facebook profile yesterday:
“Yesterday I became the first person to be infected by Covid-19 in the Faroe Islands since January.”
Speaking to KVF’s radio station this morning, before the two new Covid cases from yesterday were announced, Blaasvær said the virus may be circulating in the Faroes again.

“All my colleagues have tested negative, and those I have been in close contact with have been quarantined. I have not been abroad recently, but I caught the virus, which means that someone else in the Faroes is also infected,” he said.
He is calling on everyone who may be feeling some symptoms to get tested immediately.
“My symptoms were relatively mild, and I thought that it was probably just a cold. But with the recent easing of the restrictions for travellers, it made good sense for me to get tested.”
