Covid doctors threatened on social media

“Your time will come,” read one social media comment directed at doctor Marnar Fríðheim Kristiansen.
“If it can be established that people who promote Covid-19 prevention are terrorists, does that mean it’s okay to kill people like Pál Weihe?” read another.
These and numerous similar threats have been making the rounds on social media, directed mainly at people like Kristiansen and Weihe, who have been at the forefront of the country’s Covid prevention efforts.
This has prompted the rector of the University of the Faroe Islands to issue a public statement condemning such threats on behalf of the country’s health professionals.
A threat is a threat
According to legal experts at the Data Protection Agency, verbal and written threats are treated on an equal footing in criminal law.
KVF has contacted the police for further details about such threats, but this information has not yet been provided.
However, the police confirm that there have been many threats of this kind in recent weeks.
In related news, no new Covid cases were registered yesterday.
