Men are still paid more than women

There is still a significant gender wage gap in the Faroes.
DKK 947 million was paid in wages in June, a year-on-year increase of about 9 percent.
Of this total, DKK 576 million was paid to male employees, amounting to 61% of all paid wages. This is a year-on-year increase of DKK 48 million. Female employees were paid DKK 371 million, a year-on-year increase of DKK 32 million.
The wage growth for male employees stagnated at the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020. The growth for female employees slowed down at the time, but it did not stop. The growth has now picked up for both sexes.
In general, though, the wage expenditure growth has returned to pre-pandemic levels, reports Statistics Faroe Islands.
