DKK 800,000 has been earmarked in the 2023 budget proposal to expand Statistics Faroe Islands’ tourism section.

The aim is to gather detailed statistics on cross-cultural differences in tourist behaviour, satisfaction levels of tourists, where in the country tourists spend money and what tourism sectors are most profitable.

The grant will also be spent on incorporating the Tourism Satellite Account (TSA), which is a standard statistical framework and the main tool for the economic measurement of tourism.

Within this framework, the Faroese statistics will conform to international standards, making them directly comparable with those in other countries.
