DNA tests have now confirmed that the dead body found in Kunoy in November is that of Frenchman Bastien Porée, who was reported missing in February last year.

Porée, 31, was last seen boarding Faroese ferry Norröna in Seyðisfjørður, Iceland, on 20 February bound for the Faroe Islands.

Police knew that he alighted from the ferry in Tórshavn, because withdrew cash at an ATM in the Faroes.

They also knew that he did not departed the country by ship or by plane.

After a thorough DNA analysis of the body, police have now concluded their investigations, and the man’s body will be transported to his relatives.
