Ban on travelling with cats and dogs

Ban on travelling with cats and dogs
A new directive aims to make it illegal to travel with cats and dogs to and from the Faroes

10.06.2020 - 11:47

In an effort to maintain the country’s low levels of animal disease, the trade ministry now wants to ban all travel with cats and dogs in and out of the Faroes.

The plan is also to tighten the rules on importing animals which have not previously been here.

Service dogs, guide dogs and support dogs will be exempt from the planned ban.

In addition to keeping animal disease levels down, the ban will also ease the administrative burden on authorities and pet owners, according to the Ministry of Trade.
