Changes to Covid programmes

The job retention scheme, which was due to expire on 31 August, will be extended until 31 October and will also include people registered as being in quarantine, reports corona.fo.
Similarly, the trade minister’s authority to close bars and restaurants at 11pm has been extended from 31 August to 31 October. Bars and restaurants will continue to be eligible for compensation for lost income due to early closure until 31 October.
Tourists to pay for testing
The current testing system for inbound travellers has also been extended until 31 October. But from 1 October, tourists will be required to pay for their mandatory tests.
However, not all Covid programmes have been extended. The reimbursement package for fixed expenses in the tourism industry and the special allowances for shorter working hours will not be extended beyond 31 August.
Football reopens to spectators
Meanwhile, premier league football games will again be played in front of spectators from this Friday.
FSF, the Faroese Football Association has announced that as the health authorities have declared the Covid-19 situation as being largely under control, spectators will be allowed watch their football teams under controlled conditions.
