The future of exams still undecided

No decision has yet been made about the future of national curriculum tests and PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) tests in the Faroes.

“I know that there is a great deal of disagreement among teachers on this matter,” Djóni N. Joensen, the Minister of Children and Education, told the Teachers’ Association’s magazine Skúlablaðið.

“Whatever decision we end up with, it is crucial that we don’t rush it at this point.”

The government’s coalition agreement includes plans for a thorough review of the national curriculum tests and the PISA tests.

The Teachers’ Association has repeatedly said that the results from these tests are not used for anything.

The minister insists that the results are indeed being used, not only by schools but also by parents.
