New York route may be put on hold

Atlantic Airways announced in May that it was planning to launch six weekly trial flights to New York this autumn in preparation for a regular US route.
CEO Jóhanna á Bergi says they are still awaiting some approvals from US aviation authorities.
She adds that although it may be difficult, they have not yet given up hope of launching the trial flights to Newark Airport in New York this autumn.
Lengthy process
When the announcement came in May, the airline said it was expecting representatives from US aviation authorities to visit Vágar Airport this summer for a final suitability assessment of the airport.
This visit has yet to materialise, and representatives from the Faroese airline are now preparing a trip the US in hopes of speeding up the approval process.
If Atlantic does not secure the required approvals soon, the trial flights will be postponed until next spring, the company said yesterday.
