Witness plea after vandalism and burglaries

Police received a report of vandalism against a number of municipal cars and lorries in Klaksvík yesterday morning.
According to a spokesperson from Klakvík municipality, some 50 car windows have been smashed, and the damage is estimated at around DKK 100,000.
Police are calling for eyewitnesses to contact them on 351448.
Burglaries
Police are also investigating two burglaries which took place over the holidays.
The first took place in the Keypsamtøkan supermarket in Miðvágur, where the cash register was emptied.
The other took place in Klaksvík’s Atlantis cinema, where sweets were taken from the kiosk.
Minor wind damage
Yesterday’s heavy winds caused some damage in the capital area. In Hoyvík, some roof tiles were ripped up by the wind, and building materials were sent flying at a building site in Tórshavn.
No wind damage reports have been filed elsewhere in the country, although a bus service was cancelled in Suðuroy due to heavy winds.
Thursday night, 26 December, which is traditionally one of the busiest nights of the year for bars and nightclubs, was unusually quiet and uneventful for the police.
