Covid-19 not fully under control

The daily numbers of positive Covid tests have come down since the second-wave peak on 5 August.
That is good news, says chief medical officer Lars Fodgaard Møller. What is more worrying, though, is that not all of the new cases can be traced.
“For example, three of the five new Covid cases registered yesterday had not been put into quarantine.”
This leads him to conclude that the virus is not yet fully under control.

Two of the five positive Covid cases registered yesterday had recently returned from Denmark. Although they tested negative on arrival in the Faroes, it remains unclear where they contracted the virus.
Unlike during the first Covid wave this spring, most of those who test positive and who are hospitalised now are young people.
“It’s not only elderly people who are experiencing serious Covid symptoms now," says Møller. "Many of the 109 active cases are young people, and two of the three Covid-19 patients currently in hospital are of the younger generation, including the one person receiving intensive care treatment.”
