One in four women makes financial investments

About 25 percent of women and 39 percent of men make financial investments.
This is one of the conclusions of a new poll on gender and finance, conducted by spyr.fo on behalf of BankNordik.
Both sexes reported roughly the same levels of involvement with their own personal finances, but more women than men reported having limited knowledge and interest in their pension arrangements.
Women earn less
Women tend to be worse off financially than men. Figures from Statistics Faroe Islands reveal that the average monthly salary for women is DKK 25,500 compared to DKK 38,000 for men.
According to the poll, men’s pension savings are 30 percent higher on average than women’s.
Household finances
About 43 percent of the female respondents said that their opposite-sex spouse has the highest income in their household. Only 16 percent of the male respondents said the same.
While 28 percent of the respondents mentioned the financial consequences of parental leave, a full 94 percent said they had not done anything to address the financial consequences for the person who went on parental leave.
The sample size of the poll has not been reported, but most of spyr.fo’s polls consist of 500 respondents.
