Russian ships are the noisiest

Interest organisation Heimafriður (A quiet home), which aims to combat noise pollution, has gathered statistics over residents’ complaints over the past year.

The figures show that 55 percent of all noisy ships are registered in Russia

14 percent are registered in the Faroes and the remaining 31 percent are registered elsewhere in the world.

To ensure the validity of the statistics, Heimafriður has only included complaints for which there is solid evidence of noise pollution.
