As pharmacies have a monopoly on importing medication, individuals may not import or sell candy that contains medical substances.
Customs officers say they frequently find postal packages containing so-called ‘slimming gummies’ or ‘sleeping gummies’.
These are candy-like pills formulated with various substances that the manufacturers claim aid weight loss or sleep.
When such products are intercepted in customs, they are thrown away.
