One of the first announcements Jenis av Rana made when he was appointed Foreign Minister was the he wanted to open a Faroese representation office in Israel.

He wanted to open the new office in Jerusalem, but this plan has now been dismissed by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

She thinks it is a good idea to open a Faroese representation office in Israel, but she insists that such an office should be located in Tel Aviv and not in Jerusalem.

A common European line

”The members of the Danish commonwealth should follow the common European line regarding Israel, which in this case means that a Faroese representation office in Israel should be located in Tel Aviv,” she said

Frederiksen arrived in the Faroes on Wednesday on an official working visit hosted by Faroese Prime Minister Bárður á Steig Nielsen.

She is returning to Denmark today.
