Tvøroyri enjoying sudden boost in population
Thirty-nine people have signed up at Tvøroyri Town Council’s registration office since the start of the year

Suðuroy’s largest town, Tvøroyri, has seen an unusual population growth in the past weeks, with 39 new citizens since 1 January this year.
According to the town council, this is not only a much higher number than usual; the time of year is also surprising, as newcomers normally arrive in spring.
The town council says on its website that it is especially pleased to see that 12 of the 39 new citizens are nursery-aged children.
Tvøroyri’s current population stands at 1,737, compared to 1,722 the same time last year.
