The corona lockdown has not caused a decline in house sales.

The average price of a residential property in the capital region increased by DKK 200,000 in the first quarter (Q1) of this year, compared with Q1 in 2019. The average price in other regions has gone up by DKK 150,000 in the same period.

According to Kára á Dunga, CEO of property agency Betri heim, people are a little more cautious than they were before the corona crisis, seeking more detailed advice from property consultants.

“But there has been no decline in house sales,” she says. “People are as keen on buying and selling as they were before, and house prices are evolving in the usual way.”

This view is echoed by Sigtór Andreassen, CEO of property agency Meklarin, who says the only difference between now and before the corona crisis is people now being a bit more cautious in their planning.
