PM: no more nationwide lockdowns
Covid-19 is now back in the country after three people tested positive on Saturday.
As a result of this, more than 20 people have been quarantined.
But this is no cause for panic, says Prime Minister Bárður á Steig Nielsen.

“We, the authorities and the general public, are much better informed about the coronavirus than we were at the outbreak earlier this year,” he says.
“Unlike in March, we now have a clear strategy as well as clear testing and tracing procedures, so we are well prepared for this situation.”
The Prime Minister hopes that the new Covid-19 cases act as a reminder to the public to take measures to protect themselves and others.

He adds that with the knowledge and experience gained from the first Covid-19 wave, it is highly unlikely that there will be a need for another nationwide lockdown in case the virus spreads further.
“Our strategy is to consider localised lockdowns, for instance in a nursery, a school, a neighbourhood or even a village, depending on the situation,” says the Prime Minister.
“But it is of course crucial that we all continue to observe the social distancing and hygiene guidelines, not least during next week’s Ólavsøka national holiday celebrations."
