Hospitals ramp up Covid testing capacity
The country’s three hospitals are increasing their testing capacity in response to new Covid-19 cases

The chief medical officer last week called on everyone who feels the slightest Covid-19 symptoms to contact their GP immediately to arrange a test.

And after yesterday’s announcement of two new domestic Covid-19 cases, the hospitals have now ramped up their testing capacity in anticipation of an increased demand.

Testing times

Testing times remain the same for now, but more testing staff have been called in. The testing times are as follows:

- The National Hospital, Tórshavn: weekdays 9am-12noon

- Klaksvík Hospital: weekdays 10am-11am

- Suðuroy Hospital, Tvøroyri: weekdays 12noon-1pm.

These times are likely to be extended if demand calls for it.

A GP prescription is required in order to be tested. If you cannot reach your GP, call the emergency Covid-19 hotline on 1870, open 8am-8pm.

Stay home

Health authorities urge people to contact their GP by phone instead of showing up at the surgery if they feel any symptoms.

People are also advised to stay home while awaiting their test results.
