Thousands of vaccine doses coming from Romania
Denmark has brought forward vaccinations by two weeks after securing a deal which involves purchasing 1.17 million Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine doses from Romania.
The deal was made possible because Romania is experiencing a low vaccination rate and wants to sell unused vaccines, Danish health minister Magnus Heunicke said in a press release.
The 1.17 million extra doses will be distributed across the Danish kingdom through a per capita distribution model, which means that the Faroes will be receiving some 10.500 extra doses (0.9 percent of the total for the Danish kingdom).
The first doses from Romania are due to arrive in Denmark tonight. It is not yet clear exactly when the Faroese allocation will arrive. Details on how this will affect the Faroese vaccination programme will follow soon.
