According to the integration bill, the state authorities should offer Faroese language courses for immigrants.

The bill also says that employers should provide Faroese language courses if they employ foreign workers.

This is contradictory and confusing, says the Employers’ Union (FA) in its comments on the bill.

If responsibilities are imposed on employers, these responsibilities need further clarification, with details of the associated costs for employers, argues the FA.

Another point of concern for the FA is that it is difficult for immigrants to navigate the Faroese educational system if they do not understand Faroese or Danish.

“A lot of the teaching materials are provided in Danish. The integration bill does not adequately address the complications associated with the prevalence of the Danish language in this context,” writes the FA in its comments to the bill.
