Forty-six Ukrainian refugees are currently registered in the Faroes.

Most have found a place to stay, and about ten of them have already found jobs, says Durita Kastalag, integration advisor at the Immigration Office.

“We don’t have the exact figures because by the time they find jobs, they have usually achieved a level of independence at which the Immigration Office becomes less involved in their daily activities.”

Thirteen of the 46 refugees are children.

“Most of the children have started in school,” says Kastalag.

“Some went to school even before their residence permit was ready, and some have not started yet because their place of residence is yet to be determined.”

Two Ukrainian refugees have left the Faroes. It is unclear whether they returned to Ukraine or went to some other country.

Applications for residence permits for Ukrainian refugees have an average processing time of about a week.
