Taking a blood test in the Faroes requires you to show up at a clinic, take a number and then wait until it’s your turn.

This can often take a bit longer than you had hoped for.

In an effort to reduce waiting times, Klaksvík Hospital introduced an online booking system for blood tests a couple of years ago, and now Tórshavn’s National Hospital is following suit.

The booking system is similar to the one used for Covid testing.

Blood tests or ECG

Appointments for blood tests or ECG can be booked at 10-minute intervals from 8am to 1.50pm up to one week in advance.

Once you have booked your appointment, you will receive a text message with a booking reference number which is scanned on a screen at the clinic entrance.

The National Hospital points out that it is still possible to use the old drop-in system with just showing up at the clinic and taking a number.
