Man jailed for raping male friend

A 19-year-old man was recently sentenced for raping a mentally retarded friend.

He was also found guilty of taking advantage of his friend’s mental condition to obtain other sexual relations than intercourse.

The case is now being heard in the High Court after the man pleaded not guilty to the charges and appealed his sentence recently issued by the Court of the Faroe Islands.

Ten-month jail term

The man was handed a ten-month prison sentence of which three months are unconditional.

As the defendant was younger than 18 at the time of the alleged offences, the judge decided to make seven of the ten months conditional.

He is charged with numerous cases of sexual assault and threatening to share intimate video footage if his friend did not comply with his requests.

On top of the prison term come 120 days of community service and a DKK 25,000 compensation to the victim.
