A direct phone line to a specialist doctor has been set up at the National Hospital.

This is great news for the 146 registered Parkinson’s patients in the Faroes, says John William Joensen, chairman of the Faroese Parkinson’s Association.

“Being able to contact a doctor when you need help instead of having to wait for months is a big step forward,” he says.

Up to now, Parkinson’s patients have been able to call the National Hospital and speak to a nurse or a medical secretary, who would then pass on the information to a specialist doctor.

The new helpline, which offers direct contact to a specialist doctor, can be reached Wednesdays 4pm-6pm on 304608.
