Royal family reports deficit for 2017
The annual accounts for last year show a deficit of DKK 2.8 million for the Danish royal family.

Unforeseen expenses for the Danish royal family led to a total annual deficit of DKK 2.8 million in 2017.

The deficit will be covered by the royal family’s equity, which currently stands at approximately DKK 14 million.

“Our equity is the result of net savings from previous years, which can now cover last year’s expenses,” the royal family said in a press release.

The royal finances also include salaries for its members. Queen Margrethe receives approx. DKK 6.7 million per month from the state. Crown Prince Frederik receives approx. DKK 1.6m per month, while Prince Joachim receives DKK 295,000 per month, according to Danish national broadcasting corporation D
