DKK 15m lottery winner finally claims prize

A person in the Faroes, who insists on remaining anonymous, has claimed his or her DKK 15 million lottery prize.

Danish national lottery Danske Spil had been waiting for more than a week for the winning ticket holder to come forward.

“The ticket holder contacted us this weekend, saying they had been hesitating to come forward due to the shock of winning such a big prize,” says Danske Spil media representative Camilla Cornelius.

She adds that the winner had been struggling to gather the courage to return to Kiosk Aktiv, where they had bought the ticket.

“The person has insisted that we do not reveal their identity, which of course we fully respect. And for that reason, we cannot reveal neither age nor gender.”

The winner has received DKK 200,000 of the total prize, and the rest will be transferred to his or her bank account within the next week or two, according to Danske Spil.
