Express shuttle to ease Christmas traffic jams

Tórshavn city centre is no stranger to traffic congestion in the days leading up to Christmas.

And with the Tórshavn-Eysturoy subsea tunnel expected to open before Christmas, Tórshavn City Council has come up with a plan to prevent further traffic chaos this Christmas.

In an effort to get shoppers to park their cars away from the city centre, the council has put in place a shuttle bus service between the city centre and two parking areas outside the centre – the car parks outside the ‘á Hálsi’ sports hall and the Gundadalur football stadium.

The shuttle service will run daily from 14 to 23 December between 12noon and 8pm.
