Exports to Ukraine unchanged since invasion

Faroese exports to Ukraine have not decreased since Russia’s invasion.
The export value for February was DKK 1.9 million, DKK 4.3 million for March, DKK 24.1 million for April, DKK 2.3 million for May and DKK 3.4 million for June – a total of DKK 54.4 million for the first half of 2022.
Faroese exports to Ukraine reached an all-time annual high least year, totalling DKK 104.6 million.
Mackerel and herring make up the bulk of Faroese exports to Ukraine.
This is part of foreign minister Jenis av Rana’s reply to MP Bjarni Kárason Petersen’s, who had requested some updated information about relations between the Faroes and Ukraine.
Relief aid
The minister added that the Faroese government has sent DKK 2.75 million in relief aid to Ukraine so far this year.
The annual government budget for development and relief aid is DKK 12 million.
No negotiations about a free trade deal with the Eurasian Economic Union, which includes Russia, have taken place since Russia invaded Ukraine.

Rana further added that there are currently no plans to close down the Faroese representation office in Moscow.
Petersen also asked about an update on the government’s plans for supporting Ukraine during the war.
The minister replied that the Faroes have provided relief aid, taken in about 60 Ukrainian refugees and introduced sanctions against Russia.
Still some exports to Russia
Meanwhile, Faroese exports to Russia have not stopped entirely.
In June, exports to Russia amounted to DKK 45.2 million in June, according to Statistics Faroe Islands.
This total was made up of DKK 32.9 million of fuel and other supplies sold to Russian ships and DKK 12.3 million’s worth of blue whiting exported to Russia.
