As the risk of Covid infection increases in winter, the health authorities decided last month to offer a fourth vaccine shot to the 50+ age group.

This meant that about 20,000 people were invited to receive a booster shot.

However, it recently became clear that not enough people in this age group had accepted this offer.

This prompted the health authorities to contact all elderly care institutions asking them to ensure that all elderly residents were offered a booster shot by mid-November.

Back on track

The numbers soon started to rise. Last Thursday, only about 2,000 people had received their show, but by Monday this figure had increased to 3,121.

”Age is important here as elderly people are at risk of severe illness if they are infected by Covid-19,” says Chief Medical Officer Lars Fodgaard Møller.

No-one is currently receiving hospital treatment for Covid-19.
