Work begins on multisports complex in Tórshavn

Tomorrow at 11am, the first shovel will be put into the ground to kick off the construction of Føroya Arena in Tórshavn’s Hoyvík district.
Føroya Arena will be an internationally approved venue for indoor sports such as handball, volleyball, basketball, combat sports, table tennis, tennis, badminton, dance, archery and billiards.
With a seating capacity of 3,600 and a standing capacity of up to 4,600 people, the arena will also host concerts, conferences and other culture events.

When planning work began in June, Tórshavn mayor Heðin Mortensen said:
“We are confident that this is a financially viable project which forms a crucial part of the expansion of the Hoyvík district and the city as a whole, and it’s something that will benefit everyone in the Faroe Islands.”
The DKK 243 million project is scheduled for completion in January 2025.
