Non-essential air travel discouraged over Easter

The epidemic commission recommends that only permanent residents should travel to the Faroes for Easter, and all incoming passengers should self-quarantine for 14 days.

The commission is also urging the general public to stick to the corona guidelines outlined at corona.fo.

“We cannot order people, at least not citizens of the Danish Kingdom, not to travel to the Faroe Islands, but we strongly recommend that only permanent residents and those with an urgent need to come here over Easter do so,” says Police Chief Michael Boolsen, who chairs the epidemic committee.

Four new positive tests

After 3,637 tests, four new corona cases were announced this morning, bringing the total to 159.

Meanwhile, six new recoveries have been registered since yesterday, and the total number of recoveries is now 70. This means there are currently 89 active corona cases.

The daily number of new corona cases in the past week (from last Sunday to this morning) has been as follows: 4, 9, 4, 8, 10, 5, 4 and 4. NB: The Chief Medical Officer announces the number of new corona cases every morning. This number is based on tests from the previous day. There are, however, instances where not all tests are fully analysed by the following morning. Results from these tests will be assigned to the day when the test is completed. This may lead to adjustments in the daily numbers after the morning announcement.

One corona patient is currently in hospital and 421 are in quarantine.
