In late February, Red Cross Faroe Islands sent DKK 2 million donated by Faroese businesses in emergency relief aid to Ukraine and its neighbouring countries.

A further DKK 4 million will now be sent, bringing the total amount donated by Red Cross Faroe Islands to DKK 6 million.

A large portion of this amount came from a live televised fundraiser in late March.

The total proceeds from the fundraiser were initially believed to be DKK 7.2 million. However, this figure was later adjusted to DKK 8.3 million.

Following the concert, Red Cross wrote on its website: “Our deepest tanks to the thousands of individuals, the more than 400 businesses, organisations, municipalities, schools and others who supported our fundraiser. This will go a long way toward supporting our aid efforts in Ukraine, in the neighbouring countries and also our efforts to take care of Ukrainian refugees here in the Faroe Islands.”
