More funding needed for teaching Faroese as a second language
The financial load of teaching Faroese as a second language has more than doubled in only a few years.
But government funding does not keep pace with the rapidly increasing demand for this subject, says Jacob Eli S. Olsen, chairman of the Teachers’ Association.

”While new responsibilities are imposed on our schools every year, the total appropriation is decreasing. We cannot go on like this,” he told teacher magazine Skúlablaðið.
The Teachers’ Association is calling for a separate appropriation for the teaching of Faroese as a second language to prevent the escalating costs from eating too much into the total school appropriation.
