New push to increase coach passenger numbers

Public transport firm Strandfaraskip landsins is preparing a campaign aimed at increasing the number of passengers on its coaches between towns and villages (Bygdaleiðir).

In 2020, the total number of coach passengers dropped down to 320,000 due to the pandemic. This year, the expected total is 510,000.

But Strandfaraskip landsins wants even more passengers on its coaches.

The new campaign, scheduled for launch this spring, is said to include an expansion of Route 401, the express coach service between Tórshavn and Klaksvík, which currently only has departures on weekdays in the early mornings and late afternoons.
